It's been a crazy six months to say the least. School was tough this year. Two new employees to work with and a student clinician each semester. Right on the heels of Hurricane Gustav came Hurricane Ike. We had wind and rain with Ike, but it was a bit too far west to do much damage. All the tree limbs that did drop to the ground were the ones broken by Gustav that were still hanging in the trees. We had evacuees from Bridge City, Texas come to stay with us. During the entire storm, I had hummingbirds visiting a feeder that hangs on the corner of my patio. It was really amazing to watch these little birds fighting wind and rain to get nourishment. I captured several trips on video.

I could not believe it when I lost my dsl connection and Bellsouth could not do anything about it. 7:15 am this morning.

It's now 7:45 am and the eye is just starting to move onshore. We should see the eye around 5 pm. Until then we will have winds and rain, then after the eye comes through we will have more wind and rain.

The above picture is of a pot I repaired about 5 years ago. All you do is drill tiny holes on both sides of the crack with a drill bit made specifically for mortar. I grow roses. I love to grow roses and April is one of my favorite months because the roses are soooo very very big and colorful. I have right at 45 rose bushes. I also love to grow hibiscuses. Here are a few pictures of my garden in the month of April, 2007.

Today is a day filled with a sense of loss. It was just one year ago today I lost my dear friend Rachael, to breast cancer after 12 years of fighting. She beat it three time before it attacked her liver, after that she just got tired. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about her in some fashion.

My summer break is over in 5 days. I am soooo bummed out about that. I have totally enjoyed the break.

I played nursemaid all day yesterday. My 6'5" husband was down with a stomach virus. He was soooo miserable. I felt sorry for him. It started out Saturday with our weekly outing to Home Depot, where we rented a man lift to trim a water oak in our backyard. This is a tropical hibiscus called appropriately enough "Bienvenue". This was taken this spring with my camera I recieved for Christmas. One of my passions is gardening.
