Another Day Off....
Well what a pleasant surprise. We get the day off from school today. We had Monday off for MLK Day and then today because the roads are icy and us cajuns don't know how to drive on ice. I guess that the School powers that be decided it was safer to keep the kiddies home then let them ride on a bus, LOL. Makes me no difference, I will take my day and be happy. Especially since our Mardi Gras Ball is Saturday night. I can't wait..... I am a maid this year and it has been very exciting so far. I have been showered with gifts.
Our theme is Disco Divas. The ballroom will be decorated like the inside of a discoteque. I am representing "The Sting" which was a disco here in Lafayette. I think the hardest thing to swallow is that I actually use to go to this disco..... The other maids each represent a more famous disco, Studio 54, the Peppermint Lounge and La Discothèque in Paris. I will be presented twice that night. Once as President of the Krewe and then again as a maid. My songs are It's Raining Men and Brick House. Oh, what fun we will have.
So, back to my day off, if you can call it that, I will be putting the finishing touches on my table decorations. Sewing up my chair covers and finishing up the ball favors for my guests. Decorating your table is as important as the perfect dress. I have about a 1o foot round table to decorate. The table is covered in a white table cloth, which I will add a sqaure of black sequined material to, then top that with a foiled disco ball from the scene setters collection. On top of that in the center of the table will be a revolving center piece with three different levels of disco balls which also revolve. My colors are Silver and Black, so I have silver chargers, black plates and Silver wine coaster which look like crowns and mirrored disco balls scattered here and there. The chairs will be covered in black sequined materials, tied with a silver bow and another disco ball. My guest will have black napkins to use for the second line dance. I even made each couple a photo album as a keepsake. I usually take pictures of the tablescapes so I will post those next time.
off to sew and glue.
